MPS Intern Orientation

Three student interns at orientation 2025
Rusty Anderson

The MPS Career Specialists held an orientation for 155 of their high school student interns at Southmoore's Lecture Center, which included sessions from district and community leaders.

Students worked through their icebreaker activities with the MPS Instructional Resource Team before diving into things with Jason Dallis, Senior Corporate Recruiter at OG&E. Dallis spoke to the students about what it takes to be taken seriously as a young professional.

Director of Career Development at Mid-America University Makailee George spoke to the students about how to turn their internship into an opportunity. President Lamb from UCO spoke to the importance of college and career readiness, and MPS's Director of Technology Jun Kim walked the group through creating resumes and prepping for interviews.

After the South OKC Chamber's Jamie Crow addressed the networking skills that every young professional needs, the afternoon closed with Charlotte Sutton, Community Affairs Manager at KOCO, offering her insight on starting strong and staying grounded.

Today's students. Tomorrow's leaders.

We appreciate all of those who made a priority to encourage and instruct our large group of interns - especially our community sponsors from Moore Chamber of Commerce, QDOBA Mexican Eats, Armstrong Bank, Chris' Express Drug, and Pioneer Library System.

*Special THANK YOU to MHS Career Specialist Krissa Cavnar, WHS Career Specialist Sharee Ferguson, and SHS Career Specialist Erin Baldwin for organizing and making today possible - along with everything they have built with this program under the direction of Career Education Coordinator Rocky Dickinson and Asst. Superintendent Jimmy Martin.
